Patterns on the Rubik's Revenge? [Aug. 30th, 2006|09:42 pm]

Hi cubers!

I've recently started playing with the 4x4, and I have made many attempts to create a checker board pattern on it, but none worked. Does anyone know how to do it? And I know that trying to do it with opposite colours won't work, so I'm just mixing the colours of adjacent faces (green and yellow, blue and red, etc.), but that hasn't worked either. Help please!

Rubik's Lubing.

Last night Dad bought me a tube of -

Pinewood Derby Hob-E-Lube Graphite Sray.

When I was a kid - this got me first place two years in a row with my Pinewood Derby in Boyscouts.

Now it's knocked 20 seconds off my time.

Hello everyone~!

I'm a new member of this community; joined because Rubik's cubes fascinate me. I just recently purchased a 3x3x3 cube, and tried to understand the technique used to solve it. I've been able to understand how to get the first side (and top two layers), solving through the layer by layer technique, but the third/bottom side begins to confuse me.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks much~

I am now starting to build a collection of rubik's cubes. w00t!
I have a 3x3, 4x4, and 5x5 now. I love how the 5x5 came with a stand lol.
I have yet to solve it. I haven't really played with it much yet. But we'll see how it goes.

In my quest to find tips on how to improve my speed on solving my Rubik's Cube I decided to look up communities for such on Livejournal and here I am!

Lately I've just been completely obsessed with solving my cube over and over again. I've been able to solve it consistantly in under 5 minutes, for about 2 and a half years now and my times don't seem to be improving. Although many of the people I work with (and there are always new employees to show off to) have never even seen anyone solve it at all, nevermind as fast as I can, there's also quite a few people that "know someone" who know's someone that can solve it in under a minute... I want to do this very badly, because the fastest time I've ever gotten (when I bother to time myself) is about 2 and a half minutes.

As long as my brain continues working the way it does, I'll never be able to wrap my head around some intermediate, and pretty well all advanced tutorials for how to solve a cube faster, so any of the tips I can get that are more at my lower level of thinking for improving my speed are much appreciated, though I won't expect much because this community doesn't seem all too lively. :(

'Ello people. First post on this. Apparently the only post for awhile. Anyway...haven't actually timed myself on the cube, but it's around a couple minutes. Yeah.
